HOS247 ELD Review 2026: Price, Features & Verdict

HOS247 is one of those companies that does something oddly rare in the ELD world: it puts every price on its website. No demo call, no "contact sales," no surprise contract. For owner operators and small fleets who are tired of being upsold, that alone earns it a look.
But a clear price list only matters if the product holds up at roadside. We went through HOS247's plans, hardware, registration status and the trade offs you should know about before you sign up. Everything here was checked October 2026.
Overview
HOS247 LLC is based in Mill Valley, California. It sells a bring your own device ELD: a small logging device plugs into the truck, and the driver uses the HOS247 app on their own Android or iOS phone or tablet with 4G LTE or 5G. The company says its plans work for 1 to 500 vehicles and come with no contracts.
It's on the FMCSA registered list under several device names and identifiers, which reflects different hardware generations:
| Device name on FMCSA list | Model | ELD identifier |
|---|---|---|
| HOS247 ELD | FLT Tele | HOS247 |
| HOS247 ELD | FLT2 | ELD247 |
| #1 ELD by HOS247 | FLT3 | 247ELD |
| "All In One" ELD by HOS247 | FLT4 | 247HOS |
| !A1 ELD by HOS247 | A1 | 1A1ELD |
The listings that state a transfer method show telematic transfer, meaning web service and email.
Pricing
Here's HOS247's published price list as of October 2026.
| Plan | Monthly per vehicle | Year paid up front | What's added |
|---|---|---|---|
| ELD Compliance | $19 | $228 | Electronic logbook, DVIR, fleet manager portal |
| ELD Track | $22 | $264 | Adds ELD based vehicle tracking |
| ELD Plus | $25 | $300 | Adds IFTA reporting |
| ELD TeleTrack | $35 | $420 | Adds SIM based telematics tracking |
| ELD TeleTrack CARB | $40 | $480 | Adds CARB Clean Truck Check testing |
Hardware
On the three ELD plans, the logging device is free if you pay for a year. If you'd rather pay monthly, the device is $79. On ELD TeleTrack, the logging and GPS tracking devices are free with annual billing, or $79 and $69 respectively if you pay monthly. On TeleTrack CARB, the telematics ELD device is free with annual billing or $149 monthly.
What a year really costs
For one truck on ELD Compliance paid annually, you'll spend $228 in year one and nothing for hardware. Paying monthly instead costs $228 plus the $79 device, so $307. If you're sure you'll keep it a year, annual billing saves you $79 straight away.
For a five truck fleet on ELD Plus, annual billing is $1,500 a year. That includes IFTA reporting, which on many platforms sits behind a more expensive tier. Try other numbers in our ELD cost calculator.
Features
Logbook and HOS alerts
The app records driving time from the engine connection and lets drivers change duty status. It's a no frills logbook, which plenty of drivers prefer. Fewer menus means fewer ways to log the wrong status by accident.
Electronic DVIR
Pre trip and post trip inspections are included on every plan. Drivers check off items and note defects, and the report goes to the portal.
Fleet manager portal
All plans include web access for the office, where you review logs, send edit requests and handle unidentified driving. If you run your own authority, this is where you'll do your carrier side review.
IFTA reporting
Only ELD Plus and the TeleTrack bundles include IFTA reporting. If you file your own fuel tax, skip the Compliance and Track plans. Upgrading by $3 to $6 a month is cheaper than doing state miles by hand.
CARB Clean Truck Check
If you run in California, the TeleTrack CARB plans include remote Clean Truck Check testing. That's a niche feature, but for California based carriers it can save a trip to a tester. HOS247's CARB pricing also lists cables for different trucks: a 9 pin heavy duty cable at $15 and a 16 pin OBD2 cable for light and medium duty at $17.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Every price published, with no contracts.
- One of the lowest entry prices for a registered ELD at $19 a month.
- Free device with annual billing.
- IFTA available for $25 a month on ELD Plus.
- Grows into telematics and CARB testing if you need them.
Cons
- Bring your own device only on the ELD plans, so your phone quality matters.
- No dash cam bundle in the price list we reviewed.
- The several device listings on the FMCSA site can confuse buyers. Check which model you're sent.
- Fewer extras than big platforms like Motive or Samsara.
Who It's For
HOS247 is a strong fit for owner operators and small fleets who want legal logs, simple pricing and the freedom to leave. It's especially good value if you need IFTA and can live without cameras.
It's not the right pick if you want AI dash cams, driver coaching or a fuel card in the same app. In that case, look at Motive or Samsara.
How It Compares
| HOS247 ELD Plus | Blue Ink BIT ELD | TT ELD (12 months) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly | $25 | $40 | $50 |
| Annual option | $300 | $400 | Not shown |
| Contract | None | None | 12 months |
| IFTA | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Dash cam option | Not in price list | $50 a month combo | $75 a month combo |
HOS247 is the cheapest of the three by a clear margin. You give up the camera option, which matters to some fleets and not at all to others. See our full list of ELDs with IFTA reporting.
Setup Tips
- Order the right cable. Most heavy trucks from around 2007 onward use the 9 pin port. Light and medium duty trucks often use 16 pin OBD2.
- Use a decent phone or tablet mount, so the screen is visible but not blocking your view. See our tablet guide.
- Practice a roadside transfer in the yard before your first trip. Our data transfer guide explains how.
- Keep the in cab instruction sheet and blank paper logs on board. Federal rules require drivers to carry them in case the ELD malfunctions.
Switching To HOS247 From Another ELD
Plenty of HOS247 customers come over from a pricier platform. If that's you, here's how to move without a gap in your logs.
Time it around your contract
Check your current agreement's end date and notice period first. There's no point paying two vendors for months because you missed a 30 day notice window. If you're on month to month, you can switch any time.
Export before you cancel
Download at least the last six months of logs and supporting documents from your old system, plus your IFTA mileage for the current quarter. Carriers have to keep records of duty status for six months, and your old vendor won't necessarily keep your portal open once you leave.
Overlap for a day
Install HOS247 while the old device is still in the truck, then log out of the old app at the end of a shift and log into the new one at the start of the next. That gives you a clean break with no unassigned driving in between. Remove the old device once the first HOS247 day looks right in the portal.
Tell your drivers what changes
Even a simple app has its quirks. Show drivers where inspection mode is, how to accept an edit request and how to annotate personal conveyance. Ten minutes in the yard beats a confused call from a scale house.
Roadside Checklist
Keep these in the cab every day, whatever ELD you run:
- The ELD user manual, which can be electronic.
- An instruction sheet on how to transfer data to an officer.
- An instruction sheet on what to do if the ELD malfunctions.
- At least eight days of blank paper log sheets.
Missing any of these can earn a violation even if your logs are perfect.
Verdict
HOS247 does the basics well and charges fairly for them. For a driver who wants a registered ELD at a published price, with no salesperson and no lock in, it's one of the best values out there. Choose ELD Plus if you file IFTA, pay annually to get the free device, and you'll be legal for about $25 a month.
